The Little Red finished 2nd to Horseheads in the Class A Section IV Swimming and Diving championships. The Little Red had individual winners in the 200 Free (Kevin Miller pool record, 2nd place Jamie Lovette), 50 Free (Francis Schickel, 2nd Place Robert Mangan), 100 Free (Robert Mangan), 500 Free (Kevin Miller pool record, 2nd place Jamie Lovette, 3rd place Owen Kelly) and the 100 Breast (Andrew Mikhailichenko). The Little Red won the 200 Free Relay adding a pool record ( Francis Schickel, Jamie Lovette, Kevin Miller, Robert Mangan) and the 400 Free Relay (Kevin Miller, Teng-Ru Fang, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Jamie Lovette)
Kevin Miller was named Swimmer of the Class A meet for being part of 4 wins and 3 pool records.
While the Little Red had hoped for a championship, they are looking towards the state championships. They have qualified all three relays (200 and 400 Free and 200 Medley), and have qualified for states in the 50, 100, 200, 500 Free events, the 100 Fly and 100 back and 200 IM events. Many of the Little Red aquanauts had elected to rest for the state championship meet rather than the section iv championships so that they could perform at a higher level at the NYS champs in Buffalo, NY March 4th and 5th.
The Ithaca Little Red set 5 Pool records en route a 112-73 win over STAC rival Horseheads. The team finished 7-0 and the Senior class finished their career 43-0. The 200 Medley Relay of Tim Hector, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Francis Schickel, Robert Mangan paced a 1:39.15 to set the pool record. Kevin Miller Set both 200 Free (1:41.11) and 500 Free (4:35.48). Francis Schickel won the 50 free (22.10) and the 100 fly (53.30). Jamie Lovette won the 100The 200 Free Relay of Jamie Lovette, Evan Stevens, Andrew Mikhailichenko and Kevin Miller set the Pool record at 1:30.04. To cap the meet off the 400 Free Relay team of Francis Schickel, Robert Mangan, Jamie Lovette, Kevin Miller set the pool record by 6 seconds (3:13.17).
The team looks to retain their Class A section IV title Feb 17,19 and 20. Follow the Little Red as they close out the season.
Ithaca traveled to Corning to battle the Hawks. The Little Red came away with 3 pool records: 200 Medley Relay 1:42.16, Tim Hector, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Francis Schickel, Robert Mangan. 500 Free 4:39.10 Kevin Miller, 100 Breaststroke 1:01.32 Andrew Mikhailichenko. The Little Red beat the Hawks 103 to 75 and are now 6-0 on the season.
The Little Red travel to Long Island to compete in the Eastern States Championships at the Nassau Aquatic Center Saturday January 23rd.
January 29th the Little Red Host Horseheads in their final dual meet of the season.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016: Ithaca Boys Swimmer Kevin Miller is this week’s ESPN Ithaca Fueling Excellence Male Athlete of the Week. He was named most outstanding competitor at the John Beecher Invitational, helping the ‘Lil Red to an overall team victory. Kevin finished first in the 100 & 200 yard free, also swimming with the winning 200 & 400 yard free relay teams. Ehrhart Energy will donate $50 to the Ithaca Athletics Booster Club in his name.

The aquanauts beat the Elmira Express 99-73. The Little Red used their depth to win the meet by putting swimmers in their 3rd or 4th best events.
The Little Red are off until Jan 19 when they travel to Corning.
Little Red swimmers won 9 of 12 events, and won the overall and class A championship over Horseheads, Maine-Endwell, Corning and Vestal.
At the time of the race, the 200 free relay was the top time in the state.
Kevin Miller was awarded “swimmer of the meet” winning the 200 free, 100 free, and helping to win the 200 and 400 free relays.

The Little Red Boys Swimming and Diving Team Won 11 of 12 events on their way to a 120-61 win over long time Section IV rival, Vestal. The Team is coming off of a very demanding training week and is looking towards the Beecher Invitational Saturday Jan 9th. The Little Red are now 4-0 on the season.
