Section IV Class A Pre-lims

Ithaca had a great team effort at the Preliminary round Wednesday night.  the top 16 times from the preliminary round will qualify to swim at Finals on Saturday for the Championship.   Preliminary Results

The 200 Medley Relay team of Willa Royce-Roll, Seldoen Oshoe, Lucy Wang, Delia Ablard had the top seed over rival Horseheads.  The “B” Relay team of Molly Reid, Zoey Zentner, Abigail Williamson and Sabine Zentner had strong swims to top the exhibition relays.

The 200 Freestyle saw Ithaca Finish 2nd (Indie Stratton), 3rd (Elise Nishii-Kim), 5th (Kristen Reid) and 6th (Lexi Moravek).  Zoey Zentner and Claire Parment had career best times in the event as well.

In the 200 IM, Annika Browning, Lucy Wang and Popo Hong made it into the top 8 swimmers, while Ana Machidon finished 11th.  Molly Reid and Elena Chatrchyan each had season best times.

Micaela Moravek paced all Ithaca sprinters by finishing 2nd with Chloe Giovanonni placing 8th and Gwen Lindberg finishing 10th.  Valerie Chen finished 23rd and Cady Habicht and Cassidy Raponi had season best times.

The 100 Butterfly saw the Little red place 4 swimmers in the top 8 swimmers: (Willa Royce-Roll, Seldoen Oshoe, Isabel Rubin, Lucy Wang).  Abigail Williamson and Sabine Zentner also had season best times.

In the 100 Free, Micaela Moravek, Indie Stratton, Kristen Reid, and Chloe Giovannoni all placed in the top 8.  Abigail Williamson and Claire Parmenter had career best times in the event.

The 500 Freestyle saw the Little Red place 3 swimmers in the top 5 spots ( Delia Ablard, Elise Nishii-Kim, and Isabel Rubin).

The 200 Free Relay team of Micaela Moravek, Chloe Giovannoni, Seldoen Oshoe, and Indie Stratton secured the top spot, while the team of Parmenter, Raponi, S. Zentner and Habicht all had season best splits in their effort.

The 100 backstroke event had Little Red place 1st and 2nd (Delia Ablard, Willa Royce-Roll) and 6th and 7th (Gwen Lindberg, Lexi Moravek).  Molly Reid and Valerie Chen had solid swims in the 100 back with season best times.

The biggest surprise of the evening was the Little Red’s performance in the 100 breaststroke.  The Little Red secured 4 swimmers in the top 8 finishers (Popo Hong, Seldoen Oshoe, Ana Machidon, Irene Hwang).  Zoey Zentner had a season best time and Elena Chatrchyan had a strong swim.

The 400 Free Relay team of M. Moravek, Giovannoni, Ablard, and Stratton secured the top spot in the event.  The “B” relay team of Z. Zentner, Habicht, Chatrchyan, and Parmenter all had season best splits in a strong relay performance.

Girls Swimmers and Divers Seek Sectional Crown

The 2016 Little Red Swimming and Diving team compete this Weds, Fri and Saturday as they pursue an elusive Section IV Class A Team title.

Psyche sheets (that show the event rankings) will be out early this week and the Swimmers start the Preliminary round of action on Wednesday at 5:00pm at Ernie Davis Academy.  Divers compete in the preliminary round on Friday, with the top 8 divers moving on to Saturdays finals where they will join the top 16 Swimmers in each event.

The Little Red hope to snap a 3 year win streak by the Horseheads Blue Raiders.

Updates will be posted on this web site and finals will be broadcast on Meet Mobile.

Ithaca Close dual meet season and Send Seniors off with a Win

Ithaca wrapped up their dual meet season with a 139-47 win over Corning Painted Post.

Ithaca won 11 of the 12 events on the night.  Individual Winners for the Little Red were Annika Brown (200 and 500 Free), Lucy Wang (200 IM), Micaela Moravek (50 Free), Willa Royce-Roll (100 Fly), Delia Ablard (100 back), Seldoen Oshoe (100 Breast).  Results

The Little Red also honored their graduating Seniors tonight.  Annika Browning, Micaela Moravek, Seldoen Oshoe, Kristen Reid and Indie Stratton have been great teammates and excellent leaders to their younger teammates.  They will be missed!

Ithaca 126 Elmira 54: Ithaca uses depth in win

The Little Red traveled to Elmira on Friday to face Section IV Class A and STAC rival, Elmira.   The Little Red outmatched the Elmira Express in every event with 1,2,3 placing in 10 of 12 events on the evening. Results

The Little Red finish the dual meet season on Oct 21st at home vs. Corning 5:30pm.  Ithaca will be honoring their Seniors at the conclusion of the meet.

Ithaca stays unbeaten 6-0

Ithaca improved to 6-0 with a win over Owego Free Academy at the OFA pool.  Ithaca won 8 of the 12 events in the 110-75 victory.  After an emotional weekend at the Shen invite the Little Red overcame “sauna like” pool temps and both physical and emotional fatigue to rally for the win.  Indie Stratton won 2 individual events on the night (200 Free and 100 Free).  Micaela Moravek (50 Free), Jordan Lu (1 m diving), Elise Nishii-KIm (500 Free),   Delia Ablard (100 back) were also individual winners for the Little Red.  The Relay squad of Micaela Moravek, Kristen Reid, Indie Stratton and Annika Browning swept both 200 and 400 Free Relays.   Full Results

The Ithaca Aquanauts travel to Elmira to take on the Elmira Express, Friday at 5:30pm.  The Little Red wrap up their dual meet season at home on Oct 21st vs. Corning and will honor their seniors at the conclusion of the meet.

Ithaca Impressive at Shen Invite

October 8th, 2016

Ithaca finished 3rd out of 20 teams at the 7th Annual “Think Pink” Shen Invite.   Perennial NY state swimming powerhouse, Pittsford led all teams with 294 points and Ithaca was edged out by Guilderland-Voorheesville 245.5 to 234.5.   Ithaca added state championship qualifying performances to an impressive team effort.

Jordan Lu joined the Little Red states squad by scoring 455.75 on her 11 dive list and finishing 5th in diving competition.  Indie Stratton qualified in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.60 and finishing 5th as well.  The 200 free relay team of Stratton, Kristen Reid, Micaela Moravek and Annika Browning finished 2nd overall with a time of 1:39.12 which was 2 seconds faster than the state qualifying standard.

The Little Red performed well in a very competitive meet that included over 440 swimmers and divers from 20 teams.    The top 16 scores/times in each event scored points for the overall point tally.  The 200 Medley relay team of Willa Royce-Roll, Seldoen Oshoe, Lucy Wang, and Delia Ablard finished 11th.   Annika Browning finished 2nd in the 200 Free.  Micaela Moravek and Kristen Reid finished 5th and 8th in the 50 Free.   In the 100 Fly Stratton was 5th, Oshoe was 9th and Royce-Roll was 14th.   In the 100 Free, Moravek and Reid finished 6th and 8th while Browning and Delia Ablard finished 4th and 6th in the 500 freestyle event.  In the 100 Back,  Ablard was 4th and Stratton finished 10th.  The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Stratton, Moravek, Reid and Browning wrapped up the meet with a 2nd place finish and besting the state qualifying standard by 3.5 seconds.

The Little Red swimmers and Divers had numerous season best performances and several lifetime best times.  This performance sets a tone for the team going into the final 3 dual meets of the season and their pursuit of a Section IV Class A championship title.

Ithaca 5-0 with win over U-E 116-69

Ithaca cruised to a victory over STAC opponent, Union-Endicott.   The Little Red used its depth in the win as they relied on many younger swimmers in the meet.

Ithaca won 10 of 12 events in the contest.  Individual winners for the Little Red were:  Willa Royce-Roll (200 free), Annika Browning (50 free), Jordan Lu (1 mtr diving), Seldoen Oshoe (100 fly), Micaela Moravek (100 free),  Annika Browning (100 back), Ana Machidon (100 breast).    The Little Red Swept the Relays as well. 200 MR (Browning, Delia Ablard, Indie Stratton, Moravek.)  200 Free Relay (Stratton, Lucy Wang, Irene Hwang, Royce-Roll)  400 Free Relay (Kristen Reid, Stratton, Ablard, Royce-Roll)

Owego Invite? No Problem.

IMG_4033The Girls Swim team started off strong at the Owego Invitational on Friday night with Diving.  Jordan Lu finished 5th and Lucia Salfi finished 15th.  The Swimmers took control of the meet on Saturday and led the meet from start to finish with Shenendehowa High School nipping at their heels through all of the events.

The Little Red won the 200 Freestyle Relay in a time of 1:42.29 (Micaela Moravek, Indie Stratton, Kristen Reid, Annika Browning) just 6 tenths from the State qualification standard.  The 400 Free Relay team of Micaela Moravek, Indie Stratton, Delia Ablard, and Annika Browning Finished first in a state qualifying time of 3:40.94.

Browning was a double winner for the Little Red in the 200 (1:54.80) and the 500 free (5:06.09).  Albard was also a winner for the Little Red in the 100 backstroke (1:02.64).

The Little Red placed at least 2 swimmers in 8 of the 9 individual events and demonstrated significant depth in the win.

Little Red Stand Tall in Test

The Little Red Girls Swimming and Diving team faced off against STAC and Section IV rival Horseheads High School.  Horseheads were looking to snap Ithaca’s dual meet win streak and Ithaca were looking to get revenge on last season’s Sectional runner up finish.

The Little Red came away with a decisive 107-79 win.  The Girls Aquanauts won 9 of 12 events in the process.  Annika Browning was a double winner in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.  Additional winners were Delia Albard in the 200 I.M., Lucy Wang in the 100 Butterfly, Micaela Moravek in the 100 free, and Indie Stratton in the 100 Backstroke.  The team of Willa Royce-Roll, Seldoen Oshoe, Lucy Wang, Micaela Moravek won the 200 Medley Relay in the time of 1:58.11.  The Little Red were also winners in the 200 Free Relay ( Browning, Ablard, K. Reid, M. Moravek) and the 400 Free Relay (Browning, Ablard, K. Reid, Stratton).

The Little Red travel to Owego this Friday and Saturday to compete in the Owego Invite at Owego Free Academy, where they will compete with top teams in Section IV and across the state.
