Ithaca Little Red defend Section IV Class A title tomorrow

Tomorrow the Ithaca High School “Little Red” Boys Swim Team defend their Section IV Class A title.  The Finals are held at Owego Free Academy aquatics center and the first event starts at 1:00pm.  Please come out to support the Little Red.

Strong Showing at Section IV preliminaries

The Little Red had excellent swims in the Pre-lim meet.  31 of 32 entered scorers made it back to the Finals on Saturday.  That is a team best.  In additona, the Little Red placed 2nd in the 200 Medley relay and paced the field in the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay.

Additional congratulations go to Noah Frostclapp for achieving his first individual state qualifying time in the 100 Breastroke.  1:00.80.  Ryan Nicholson set two pool records in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 butterfly.  The team of Francis Schickel, Faadhil Moheed, Kevin Miller and Ryan Nicholson set the pool record in the 400 free relay 3:15.94.

Ithaca Finishes regular season 8-0 with win at Liverpool

The Little Red came away with a convincing 112-71 win.  Along the way Ithaca set 4 pool records and improved a Varsity record.  The 200 Medley Relay of Faadhil Moheed, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Ryan Nicholson, Francis Schickel set the pool record and improved the Little Red’s Varsity Record to 1:37.25.  Ryan Nicholson set the 50 free pool record (20.57) and 100 free pool records (45.87).  The 200 Free Relay team of Francis Schickel, David Korb, Kevin Miller and Ryan Nicholson improved the pool record to 1:29.41.  Other winners for Ithaca were Kevin Miller in 200 and 500 freestyles, Francis Schickel in the 100 fly, and Faadhil Moheed in the 100 back. Liverpool were gracious hosts to the Little Red of Ithaca.  Many thanks to the Liverpool booster club for providing post meet food to us.  We wish the Warriors the best of luck with the rest of their season.

The Little Red are now preparing for Sectional IV championships on February 12th and 15th.

Ithaca Finishes STAC season undefeated.

The Little Red traveled to Corning and spoiled Senior night for the Hawks, 113-63.  Along the way, Ryan Nicholson set pool records in the 50 (21.28) and 100 Free (46.45) and contributed to pool records in the 200 Free Relay (Korb, Miller, Schickel 1:29.59) and 400 Free Relay (Moheed, Miller, Schickel 3:17.93)  Other winners for the Little Red: Moheed, Mikhailichenko, Chang, Korb 200 Medley Relay 1:44.84, Francis Schickel won the 200 Free 1:48.20, Kevin Miller touched first in the 200 IM 2:05.22, Jamie Lovette paced the 500 free 5:09.80, Faadhil Moheed won the 100 back 56.27.   Full results corning 1.24.14

Ithaca finishes the dual meet season at Liverpool.  All fans of swimming will want to be at this clash between reining Section III and Section IV champions.  3:30 pm at Liverpool High school February 1st.

Ithaca Rolls on Senior Night

The team gave the seniors a good home send off by beating rival Vestal 129-51.  The 200 Medley relay team of Faadhil Moheed, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Ryan Nicholson, and Francis Schickel broke the pool record from December in a time of 1:39.72.  Additionally Ryan Nicholson narrowly missed breaking Ken McLaughlin’s (J.C. 1977) elusive 50 freestyle pool record by .01.  Ryan broke McLaughlin’s 100 free record though (47.07) in a time of 46. 52.

Kevin Miller was a 4 time winner: 200 Free, 500 Free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay.  Andrew Mikhailichenko was also a 4 time winner: 200 IM, 100 Breast, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Free relay.  Nicholson also won the 50, 100 free, and was part of the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.  Charles Chang won the 100 butterfly and Faadhil Moheed won the 100 back and was part of the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay.

Ithaca Finishes First at EFA invite

The Ithaca High School boys Finished first at the EFA invite for the 4th year in a row.  Ryan Nicholson won outstanding swimmer of the meet for the 3rd time in a row.  In addition Ryan set the Section IV and Varsity (pool and invitational) record in the 200 freestyle, he also set the pool record/invite records in the 50 free (leadoff) and 100 fly.  The team of Faadhil Moheed, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Nicholson and Francis Schickel set the pool, invite and Varsity record in the 200 Medley Relay.

The team of Ryan Nicholson, Kevin Miller, Andrew Mikhailichenko and Francis Schickel also set the pool/invite record in the 200 Freestyle relay.

In spite of our rigorous meet schedule over the last week and minimal training, the team rose to the occasion to defend their title.  The team had top 6 finishes in every event except for diving.  Notable swims from Yerko Alpysbay and Chester  Pollack achieving personal bests in the 100 and 50 free respectively.  The team has 5 weeks until their sectional championships in which they look to defend their Section IV class A crown and 3-peat.

Ithaca Rumbles Through Elmira

The Little Red Swimming and Diving Team improved to 5-0 on the season with a win at Elmira.  135-42.   Due to the great depth on the team, this meet provided an opportunity for many swimmers who normally don’t get in meets to get an opportunity to score points.  Additionally, it was Luciano Servetto’s first win of the season in the 1 meter Diving Event. The next meet is at the Elmira Free Academy Invite January 11th, where the Little Red faces many of their Section IV rivals including Corning, Maine-Endwell and Horseheads,

3rd time is the charm

After having the meet canceled twice, the IHS boys Swimming and Diving team rolled to a 122-63 victory over Maine-Endwell.  Our depth helped to secure such a lopsided victory.  Along the way the Little Red set 7 Pool Records:

Little Red has strong performance at Shen Invite

The IHS Boys Swimming and Diving placed 3rd at the Shen invite with 355.5 points trailing Pittsford (431) and Shen (392.5).  The Little Red showed a lot of strength in the relay events at the Shen Invite.  The 200 Medley Relay team finished 3rd overall, the 200 Free Relay team finished 1st with a state qualifying time and the 400 Free Relay team finished 1st also shattering the state qualification standard.  On the lead off leg of the 400 Freestyle Relay, Ryan Nicholson broke the pool record in the 400 Free Relay.  He contributed to his teammates Kevin Miller, Faadhil Moheed and Francis Schickel breaking the Pool record for the relay as well.

Francis Schickel qualified for States in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events and also was a winner in each event.  Kevin Miller qualified for States in the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle.  Ryan Nicholson achieved an All-American Consideration time in the 50 and 100 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly.
