Swim Team Commendation

The Swimming & Diving team will receive an ICSD board commendation at 5:30 this evening at kulp auditorium. The entire team is being commended for the extraordinary season they had (section 4 champs, top 5 at states, state finalist qualifiers, champions and state records).

Little Red rake in post season awards

At the senior awards ceremony, Faadhil Moheed was the recipient of the Edward I. Pierce award (given to a senior athlete who demonstrates the highest levels of dedication and loyalty in academics and athletics).

At the inaugural Night of Champions hosted by ESPN radio 1160 AM and Erhart Energy, Ryan Nicholson was the recipient of the Outstanding Boys Swimmer for 2013-2014. Coach Mike Blakely-Armitage was the recipient of the Outstanding Boys Swimming & Diving Coach. The Night of Champions honored 55 coaches and athletes from the ESPN 1160 listening area.

Little Red recognize 5 Academic All-Americans

The following Little Red Swimmers have achieved Academic All-American status:   Tushar Thomas, Ryan Nicholson, Charles Chang, Noah Frostclapp, Faadhil Moheed.  The have received this distinction because they have maintained a 3.75 GPA over 7 semesters of High School studies.   Good job boys!!!

Ithaca wraps up a record setting weekend

The Little Red continued to shine in the pool during the NYS Federation Swimming & Diving Championships Saturday.  The 200 Medley Relay team of Faadhil Moheed, Noah Frostclapp, Ryan Nicholson and Francis Schickel broke their own state record in the event by .01 and stood tall atop the podium.

Kevin Miller finished 16th in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle events.

Francis Schickel finished 10th in the 50 Free and 20th in the 100 Free.

Ryan Nicholson tied his prelim time of 20.25 to out touch the field by .47 for 1st place.  Ryan successfully defended his 100 butterfly state title finishing with a time of 48.14 and outpacing 2nd place by 1.23 seconds.

Faadhil Moheed finished in 32nd place in the 100 backstroke.

Noah Frostclapp bettered his 100 breast time to 58.63 and improved to 12th place.

The 400 Freestyle relay team of Ryan Nicholson, Faadhil Moheed, Kevin Miller, and Francis Schickel set the Section IV record of 3:09.05, and topped all of the Public High Schools.

The Little Red Finished 4 th place as a team in the Federation scoring and finished 2nd place in the Public School Scoring.

Ithaca has Record setting day at NYS High School Champs Pre-lims

The 200 Medley Relay team of Faadhil Moheed, Noah Frostclapp, Ryan Nicholson and Francis Schickel set a NYS High School record of 1:33.84 and secured the top spot going into Finals on Saturday.

Kevin Miller placed 15th in 200 Free with a time of 1:44.16 and also added a 12th place in the 500 Free with a time of 4:41.76.

Ryan Nicholson set the early standard in the 50 freestyle by breaking the state record in the 50 free with a time of 20.25, only to have it broken by Justin Plaschka who led off the Hauppage 200 Free Relay in 20.08.  Ryan would get back to his record setting ways by eclipsing his own state record in the 100 butterfly by .54 for a time of 47.76.

Francis Schickel placed 11th in the 50 free with a time of 21.62 and place 17th in the 100 free with a time of 47.41.

The 200 Free Relay team of Kevin Miller, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Charles Chang, and David Korb combined for a time of 1:31.82 and 32nd place.

Faadhil Moheed broke the Little Red’s Varsity Record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.35 and placing 27th.

Noah Frostclapp placed 15th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.22.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Ryan Nicholson (44.34), Faadhil Moheed, (50.02), Ryan Nicholson (49.81), Francis Schickel (46.81) combined for a time of 3:10.99 and 3rd place.

The Little Red will look to continue their winning ways in finals tomorrow.  The meet starts at 12:00pm at Webster Aquatic Center.

Little Red are Section IV Class A Champions

Ithaca High School Boys Swimming and Diving won the Class A Section IV championship today.  This is their 3rd straight and 4 in the last 5 years.

There we excellent swims by every swimmer on the team.  The Little Red won 8 events on the day.

200 Medley Relay: Faadhil Moheed, Noah Frostclapp, Charles Chang, David Korb.  50 Free and 100 Fly: Ryan Nicholson.  500 Free: Kevin Miller.  200 Free Relay: Francis Schickel, Andrew Mikhailichenko, Kevin Miller, Ryan Nicholson.  100 Back: Faadhil Moheed.   100 Breaststroke: Noah Frostclapp.  400 Free Relay: Schickel, Moheed, Miller, Nicholson.

Captains Faadhil Moheed and Noah Frostclapp joined the ranks of the individual state qualifiers by making the time standard in the 100 back and the 100 Breast respectively.  Pool Records were set by Ryan Nicholson in the 50 free (20.61) and 100 butterfly (48.90) as well as by the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Francis Schickel, Faadhil Moheed, Kevin Miller and Ryan Nicholson.

The Little Red now set their sights on the NYSPHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Webster, NY Feb 28th and March 1st.
